ZusammenfassungThe aim of the planned study is to investigate how physical activity mediates the relation between age and brain morphology, in terms of regional brain volume and cortical thickness. Despite physical activity, either self-reported or objectively measured, several other factors may influence brain morphology, like smoking, alcohol consumption, diabetes, anthropometric measures, blood pressure, physical fitness and socio-demographic factors. To this end, we apply for these variables to use them as control variables for the analysis of the relation between segmented gray matter MR-images and cortical thickness parameters. As a second aspect, we will explore the influence of these variables on brain morphology in a sample of 2400 subjects.
