Linked projectsNAKO-505
SummaryThe linkage of primary data to secondary data such as health claims data offers several opportunities to evaluate similarities and differences between these data sources. As the largest population-based cohort study in Germany, the NAKO health study (German National Cohort; GNC) provides the unique opportunity to link information from a large set of primary data with claims data from several German health insurances. This linkage offers an opportunity to explore possible sources of error occurring in these two data sources. Recall and social desirability bias are key factors that influence primary data (self-reports). These potential biases affect not only disease conditions, but also healthcare utilization. In the GNC, claims data as well as the collected primary data will capture information on healthcare utilization from up to five years before the GNC baseline survey. This allows to analyze similarities and differences between the two data sources. The claims data will also be useful to add valuable information regarding healthcare usage within that timeframe, e.g. on vaccination. This will enrich baseline characterization of the GNC participants in general. This study aims to describe and compare information on healthcare usage from claims data as well as from the collected primary data in the GNC.
