SummaryCardiovascular diseases (CVD) is a global public health concern. A better understanding of the epidemiology of CVD is fundamental for health care providers and scientists in order to develop prevention strategies. The NAKO Gesundheitsstudie (German National Cohort, GNC) constitutes a rich epidemiological resource to obtain comparably results to investigate the frequency of several CVD. Estimates of CVD from the first 100,000 participants of the GNC have been previously published in German language.
The overarching aim of this proposal is to update and describe the frequency of self-reported CVD in participants from the GNC complete baseline assessment, with particular focus on hypertension, and whether they vary with age, sex and sociodemographic factors.
