SummaryWe intend to analyze and compare the general health status of samples from two defined areas on the Danish and on the German side of the Femern Belt, respectively, using population-based studies (the Lolland-Falster-Study and the German National Cohort, study site Kiel). The purpose of our analyses is to identify and understand similarities and differences in health status between the two areas that will be tightly connected in a few years upon completion of the Femern Belt tunnel. We will focus on several disease and organ groups (cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, cancer [if available], renal disease, certain lung diseases, gut/liver/gall bladder disease, etc.) and compare prevalent disease conditions (self-reported) as well as physiological measures of organ function (e. g. FEV1), risk factors (e. g. BP) and laboratory values (e. g. of kidney function, of liver function, etc.). Furthermore, we would like to compare physical activity, socioeconomic status and quality of life between the 2 samples. We would like to submit a proposal for a EU interreg call (submission date is August 15th, 2022). If some of the variables, that we applied for are not available, we will modify the application accordingly.
