SummaryBreast cancer (BC) is the most commonly diagnosed cancer overall and the most common cancer among women. The social support that women receive during this challenging period is crucial for their well-being, treatment adherence, overall quality of life, and, as the focus of this application, their mental health.
This project aims to systematically examine the associations between social support networks, interpersonal relationships, and mental health outcomes in women with a history of breast cancer. To date, this topic has not been investigated within a German cohort-based study.
The findings may contribute to a better understanding of how social support and relationship characteristics impact mental health in women affected by breast cancer, and may inform future psychosocial support strategies, informal caregivers, and the partners and family of the affected women.
