SummaryUltrafine particles (UFP, particulate matter <100nm diameter) may confer greater deleterious health effects than larger particles. However, epidemiological evidence is limited due to heterogeneity in exposure assess-ment, single cohort/country designs, limited sample size, and lack of co-pollutant adjustment. Within the EX-PANSE (EXposome Powered tools for healthy living in urbAN SEttings) project, a new 25x25m UFP model based on harmonized mobile monitoring data has been developed and validated across Europe which now allows for large-scale European analysis, greatly strengthening the evidence. Although NAKO could not participate in the main EXPANSE project, the environmental exposures compiled within EXPANSE have been already linked and then UFP map is currently added by the Environmental Data Unt (EDU). In addition to the EXPANSE cohorts, NAKO was invited to participate in extended analyses focus-ing on the health effects of residential outdoor ultrafine particle exposure in Europe. In the proposed project, we aim to obtain insights into health effects of outdoor UFP concentrations at the resi-dential address across Europe, on natural and cause-specific mortality.
