SummaryAccording to RKI. (2024) the incidence of Tuberculosis in Germany is estimated to be 5.3/100,000. There are rare reports of zoonotic tuberculosis caused by M. bovis in human, probably associated with zoonotic transmission. This is aligned with reports from Müller et al. (2013), which reported that the contribution of zoonotic TB was 0.4% of the total TB cases in Europe.
NAKO is Germany’s largest long-term population-based cohort study rich with different exposure factors including infectious diseases. The frequency of TB self-reports among NAKO participants was 1.4% (Hassenstein et al., 2020). With this background, our study aims to compare zoonotic exposures factors of NAKO participants with tuberculosis (TB) and those without TB. We will perform comparative analyses between TB frequency and exposure factors. The duration of the project is expected to be 24 months.
