SummaryThe relationship between the local inflammatory effect of joint arthroplasty and systemic inflammatory processes is still being thoroughly investigated in the literature. It is also assumed that the systemic inflammatory process and the factors that contribute to low-grade chronic inflammation play an important role in the pathogenesis of various systemic diseases. It has now been proven that inflammatory and immune cells contribute to the development and progression of atherosclerosis as well as to the development of cardiovascular events. Hypothesis: The current study aims to investigate the effect of endoprosthesis wear on systemic inflammation processes and systemic diseases in a cross-sectional study design. The following hypothesis was formulated: There will be an association between higher levels of cardiovascular diseases and wearing a joint endoprosthesis. Materials and Methods: Exposure (having hip/knee surgery) and outcome (cardiovascular diseases) will be analyzed. A generalized linear model will be constructed for analysis, adjusted and unadjusted for potential confounders amd mediators.
